Sheryl’s artistic influences have been her father who sketched in pencil for her as a child, her brother who is a painter and sculptor, and her dear friend Virginia Jackson. Painting in a realistic style, Sheryl uses traditional methods whether painting in oils, watercolor or soft pastels. Her focus is mainly with pastels and the subject matter can vary from portraits, landscapes, and wildlife and still life. Sheryl also enjoys doing commissioned paintings for the client who has something special in mind. Although Sheryl’s techniques and skills as a painter would be considered professional, she is actually an emerging artist with a detailed sense of style. Sheryl has won awards at many of the exhibits that she has participated in- Quad City Arts Cat Show Exhibition 2005, Best of Show; Geneseo Maple City Fine Arts Exhibition 2005, 2nd place and Honorable Mention to name a few. Often she shows at the Left Bank Art League Gallery in the District of Rock Island. WQPT invited Sheryl to be the featured artist on the Creators series hosted by Ralph Iaccarino on Quad Cities Life and Times show.
