John Ketner -- Artist Statement

I have been creating things as long as I can remember and
always had a passion for art. I started with painting using oils
watercolors and acrylics. My interests are landscape, wildlife,
Native Americans, and the fur trade era. Bronze art was
something I always admired and wanted to do so in 1991 I
made my first clay sculpture. I was fascinated with the process
of lost wax bronze casting, so I dove right in and learned as
much as I could from mold making to patina. A foundry in
Colorado casts my sculptures but I try to do as much hands on
as I can. To me my art is more than the finished piece, it’s the
journey and the knowledge I have gained.
